The Communities
All American Communities
The city of Pryor Creek is located just four miles north of the park or just a 5-minute commute to work. With a population of just over 9,200, Pryor Creek offers a beautiful and quiet rural lifestyle. Although the city is commonly known as Pryor, the official name is Pryor Creek. Over 85 organizations and civic clubs are enthusiastically attended by residents from around Mayes County (40,000 population). Ranging from the
Pryor Chamber of Commerce to the Green Country Antique Tractor Club, Pryor Creek has something to offer everyone.
The city of Chouteau is located just four miles south of park with essentially the same commuting time to work. From 1990 to 2000, Chouteau's population increased from 1,771 to 1,931 or just over 9%. From 2000 to 2006, the population has increased to 2,010, an increase of 4.0%. Chouteau is ideally situated at the intersection of US Highway 412 and US Highway 69, both four-lane highways. This strategic location offers many commercial opportunities and a bright future for continued growth.
MidAmerica is also located just 10 minutes from Lake Hudson, the region's
"best kept secret" for being one of the best fishing lakes in Oklahoma.
Other nearby lakes also offer exceptional fishing opportunities along with
skiing and sailing.
Located just two miles east of the park is an 18-hole municipal golf course
considered by many as one of the finest municipal courses in the state.
The area is also home to the
Rocklahoma hard rock music festival held over four days and features big name talent in concert like ZZ Top, Motley Crue, Poison and Whitesnake. Tens of thousands of fans venture to the site each summer to enjoy an event that Playboy and Rolling Stone called "one of the top festivals that should not be missed."
Healthcare
INTEGRIS Mayes County Medical Center is located in Pryor, Okla., in Mayes County. The hospital is an 88-bed facility serving Mayes County and the surrounding areas. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Medicare and Medicaid CAO. It is a member of the Oklahoma Hospital Association, Voluntary Hospitals of America and the American Hospital Association.
Mayes County residents are also fortunate to have a truly exceptional 24-hour ground emergency transportation system known as the Mayes County Emergency Transportation Authority or
MESTA and enhanced 911 services. These services are dispatched from headquarters located at MidAmerica.
Tulsa Life Flight (TLF), an air ambulance service, has a satellite operation at the MidAmerica Industrial Park Airport. The MidAmerica base has allowed the service to offer more efficient response to parts of Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. By not flying from the original base stationed at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, TLF can save 18 minutes of flight time from MidAmerica.
Urgent Care of Green Country occupies a 4,400 SF clinic also located in MidAmerica. Urgent Care operates seven days per week offering, among other services, occupational medicine, drug tests, worker comp injuries and pre-employment physicals. Additionally, Mayes County residents and indeed Northeast Oklahoma are fortunate to count on several major medical centers, more than 1,700 physicians, 400 dentists, and comprehensive health maintenance organizations in Tulsa, just 40 miles west of MidAmerica.
From prenatal care to advanced research, Tulsa's healthcare community ensures that present and future generations will have access to first-rate treatment. Saint Francis Health System, St. John's Medical Center and Hillcrest Hospital meet a majority of specialized health care needs for a majority of Northeast Oklahomans. In 1999, SouthCrest Hospital opened in the southern part of the city.
