Flare stack in transit
Worldwide Steel Works recently shipped another specialized fabrication from the company's production facility at MidAmerica Industrial Park.
Destined for a site north of Denver, Colorado, the flare stack will be used to burn off all combustible exhausting gases from the refining process to yield clean air.
The component, measuring 15 feet wide and 125 feet long with a weight of more than 150,000 pounds, required a specialized 40-wheel trailer for transport. This is just one-half of the finished product. The upper section made its way through the streets of Pryor two weeks earlier.
When erected in the field, it will stand at about 250 feet tall.
"We had eight employees assigned to this project: two prep, two fitters, four welders. Several others were involved, including quality control, inspectors, x-ray, painters, heavy equipments operators and more," said Darrell Jenkins, Plant Production Manager
The flare stack took over 4 months to build.
Worldwide Steel Works, located in the park since 2006, manufactures products for the petrochemical and alternative power industries throughout the country. Finished products range from direct fired process heaters, ASME-code pressure vessels, flare stacks to HSRG stacks, and components with all types of structural steel and piping.
Approximately 40 employees currently work at Worldwide Steel Works.
